THEATRE COMPOSER

Helen has worked in theatres all over the UK since 1985. In the Netherlands she founded Counterparts Theatre (1994) and composed several music theatre shows for the company, including the award winning a cappella ‘Moll Flanders’ for seven singer/actors.

 

She has collaborated on composition projects with the Royal Opera House (ROH2) including Twitterdaemmerung, Exposure and Carbon Copy Cabaret (London Sinfonietta/ROH2), and with the ROH2 education department. She was appointed composer-in-residence at Whitchurch Silk Mill, Hampshire, and for Dunhurst (Bedales) School, helping children to create their centenary musical ‘Back In Time For School’. She received Arts Council Awards for her compositions (The Baskerville Suite, The Highwayman, Songs From The Shadows) as well as a Finzi scholarship in 2008 for her ‘Venetian Interludes’.
